Noisy Iris Recognition Integrated Scheme

چکیده
One of the most challenging issues in iris recognition is the design of techniques able to ensure high accuracy even in adverse conditions. This paper deals with an approach to iris matching based on the combination of local features: Linear Binary Patterns (LBP) and discriminable textons (BLOBs) are presently exploited. The techniques have been refined ad hoc, to allow the extraction of significant discriminative features, even with images captured in variable visible light conditions, and affected by noise due to distance/resolution or to scarce user collaboration (blurring, off-axis iris, occlusion by eyelashes and eyelids). The obtained results strongly motivate further investigations along this line, most of all the addition of more local features. 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

With an increasing emphasis on security, automated personal identification based on biometrics has been receiving extensive attention. Iris recognition, as an emerging biometric recognition approach, is becoming a very active topic in both research and practical applications. In general, a typical iris recognition system includes iris imaging, iris liveness detection, and recognition. This rese...
متن کاملDeep Learning-Based Iris Segmentation for Iris Recognition in Visible Light Environment
Existing iris recognition systems are heavily dependent on specific conditions, such as the distance of image acquisition and the stop-and-stare environment, which require significant user cooperation. In environments where user cooperation is not guaranteed, prevailing segmentation schemes of the iris region are confronted with many problems, such as heavy occlusion of eyelashes, invalid off-a...
متن کاملNoisy Ocular Recognition Based on Three Convolutional Neural Networks
In recent years, the iris recognition system has been gaining increasing acceptance for applications such as access control and smartphone security. When the images of the iris are obtained under unconstrained conditions, an issue of undermined quality is caused by optical and motion blur, off-angle view (the user's eyes looking somewhere else, not into the front of the camera), specular reflec...
متن کاملIris Recognition: An Entropy-Based Coding Strategy Robust to Noisy Imaging Environments
The iris is currently accepted as one of the most accurate traits for biometric purposes. However, for the sake of accuracy, iris recognition systems rely on good quality images and significantly deteriorate their results when images contain large noisy regions, either due to iris obstructions (eyelids or eyelashes) or reflections (specular or lighting). In this paper we propose an entropy-base...

This paper presents a fast precise unsupervised iris defects detection method based on the underlying multispectral spatial probabilistic iris textural model and adaptive thresholding applied to demanding high resolution mobile device measurements. The accurate detection of iris eyelids and reflections is the prerequisite for the accurate iris recognition, both in near-infrared or visible spect...
